Girard Perregaux is one of the oldest Swiss watchmaking companies and is still under private management. They trace their history back to 1791 in the Swiss canton of Neuchâtel. Part of the elite of Swiss Haute Horlogerie, Girard-Perregaux is lauded for being a holistic manufacture developing and producing in-house every aspect of a watch and its movement. During the renaissance of mechanical watchmaking in the 1980s and 1990s, Girard-Perregaux was one of the rare brands to manufacture movements in-house.
Between 1994 and 2004, Girard-Perregaux presented a collection of sport chronographs with the Ferrari logo in limited editions. Keeping in tune with the styles manufactured during this period, Girard Perregaux continued to produce their in-house timepieces and such a series was the Sport Classique, a core series that was produced in the early 2000’s which did not fall apart of Ferrari partnership watches but still was manufactured in limited editions.
