In celebration of its 150th anniversary, Piaget has unveiled the Piaget Altiplano Ultimate Concept Tourbillon, showcasing its expertise in ultra-thin watchmaking. Building upon the legacy of the Polo 79, this new release epitomises Piaget’s commitment to technical innovation.

Measuring a mere 2mm in thickness, equivalent to its groundbreaking predecessor from 2018, the Piaget Altiplano Ultimate Concept Tourbillon now boasts the distinction of being the world’s thinnest tourbillon. This achievement underscores Piaget’s prowess in pushing the boundaries of horological engineering.

The watch features a striking cobalt blue case treated with blue PVD, measuring 41.5x2mm. Driving its exceptional performance is the Piaget caliber 970P-UC, a manual-wind movement equipped with a one-minute peripheral tourbillon and a 40-hour power reserve. To accommodate the tourbillon, Piaget undertook a significant redesign of 90% of the movement, necessitating a 25% increase in power from the mainspring.

Positioned at 10 o’clock, the tourbillon captivates with its rotation, while the exposed mainspring barrel commands attention at 6 o’clock. Utilising ball bearings for rotation, Piaget has incorporated a sapphire opening in the caseback, offering a mesmerising view of the tourbillon in action.

While pricing details are available upon request, it’s worth noting that the original Altiplano Ultimate Concept (sans tourbillon) commanded a price exceeding $400,000, indicating the exclusivity of this exceptional timepiece.
