Omega and Swatch Partner with Sotheby’s to Auction MoonSwatch Moonshine Gold Complete Sets for Charity

Omega and Swatch have joined forces with Sotheby’s to auction off 11 complete sets of MoonSwatch Mission to Moonshine MoonSwatches. This marks the first time that these iconic timepieces will be sold as a complete collection, with all proceeds going to Orbis, a charity dedicated to blindness prevention that Omega has supported since 2011. The auction is scheduled to run from February 12 to February 24.

Each of the 11 suitcases will contain all 11 MoonSwatch models released in the previous year, including the coveted “Blue Moon” model inspired by the Mission to Neptune MoonSwatch. The concept of the suitcase originates from the initial launch of MoonSwatch in 2022, where Swatch showcased closed cases in its global store windows before the official release. While Swatch stores commonly display briefcases containing regular production MoonSwatch models, this marks the first time the MoonSwatch set will be available for sale.

The MoonSwatch Moonshine Gold models were released in limited quantities in 2023, with each model featuring Moonshine Gold-covered hands manufactured under specific full moons. Despite their limited availability, the complete collection will now be auctioned as a set, offering enthusiasts the opportunity to own all emblematic models from 2023.

Before the auction concludes, the 11 suitcases will be on display at select Omega boutiques worldwide from February 1 to 11. The locations include Zurich, Tokyo, Bangkok, Singapore, Hong Kong, Beijing, New York, London, Milan, Paris, and Sydney.

According to Omega, each suitcase will include a golden monocle with the Omega x Swatch logo and a coin engraved with the three-letter aviation code of the displayed city. This code will also be engraved on the side of each watch within the corresponding suitcase.

While the city-specific engravings may come as a surprise to some, the overarching goal remains to support Orbis and its noble cause of blindness prevention. The auction offers enthusiasts the opportunity to contribute to a meaningful cause while owning a piece of horological history.
