From the second generation of Vacheron Overseas, this Overseas Chronograph reference 49150 represents a blend of evolutionary changes carrying characteristics of the first generation while simultaneously gently introducing concepts that became concrete in the following third. Measuring 42mm in width with a preference for sharp brushing complemented by polishing, this steel Vacheron Constantin Overseas Chronograph is a coherent package with comfort through the roof. Moving from its distinctive notched bezel design, the dial of this chronograph packs a mean punch thanks to its blue lacquered base with nuanced styling and character in abundance. White gold hands and indices with matching sub-dial chapter rings further enable this watch to pop when on the wrist. This isn’t just any three register chronograph however as the elapsed chronograph minute register at three is slightly larger than the others, creating an almost ‘big eye’ aesthetic. Last but by no means least is the split double-digit date window at twelve. A confident and logical execution for a date window that is a lot harder to pull off than it looks, that is of course unless you’re Vacheron Constantin.
